The Lakewood High School Theatre Company is a thriving community of more than 160 passionate performers, technicians, and creatives. As one of the largest high school theatre programs in Colorado, we build upon a rich legacy of excellence with award-winning productions that captivate and inspire. With each season, the LHS Theatre Company continues to grow, pushing the boundaries of storytelling and stagecraft.
A typical LHSTC season provides year-round opportunity, consisting of at least two fall plays, the spring musical, student-directed one acts, as well as class practicums such as the Advanced Acting Showcase and the IB Collaborative Projects.
Throughout the years, the LHS Theatre Company has received numerous awards and honors. Lakewood Theatre has been honored with 42 Bobby G nominations, 14 of which won the Bobby G award, which are the state of Colorado's premier awards for outstanding accomplishment in high school musical theatre.
Many students from Lakewood have also received awards at ThesCon, the Colorado Thespian Conference, for outstanding performance and technical design as well as collegiate scholarships to continue pursuing the performing arts at a higher level of education.
Lakewood High School offers one of the most comprehensive theatrical arts programs in Jefferson County, with two dedicated theatre teachers and 8 theatre classes, ranging from acting to technical theatre to unified theatre.
The LHSTC offers eight different technical crews for each staged production, and students can partake in any of the following tech crews: Stage, Sound, Lights, Publicity, Paint, Costumes, House, or Props.
The LHSTC offers a multitude of extra-curricular acting opportunities every year, including at least two fall plays, the spring musical, and the student-directed spring one acts. Students have plenty of opportunity to act onstage throughout the year.
The LHSTC could not operate without the support of numerous parents throughout the year. They offer support with production dinners, provide concessions for performances, and provide occasional assistance with technical crews.
