Decision Height follows Virginia Hascall, who leaves her home and fiancé to join the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) in Sweetwater, Texas, during World War II, determined to serve her country. Over nine months of rigorous flight and ground training, Virginia and five fellow trainees confront the program’s exacting standards—and the literal “decision height,” the minimum altitude at which a pilot must choose between landing and bailing out—a constant reminder of their stakes. Personal tragedy strikes when Virginia learns of her fiancé’s death overseas and her roommate Dot is killed in a training accident, testing the women’s resolve and camaraderie. In the end, the surviving pilots band together for a final ferry mission, forging a bond of loyalty and underscoring the play’s themes of bravery, sacrifice, and sisterhood—all while their contributions remain largely unrecognized until decades later
