Urinetown: The Musical is a clever and funny show set in a future where a terrible drought has made water so scarce that people have to pay to use public bathrooms. Private toilets are banned, and a greedy company called Urine Good Company controls all the bathrooms and takes advantage of the poor.
When Bobby Strong, a young idealist, decides to stand up to the system after his father is punished for peeing in public, he sparks a rebellion. With the help of Hope Cladwell, the kind-hearted daughter of the company’s corrupt boss, Bobby and the townspeople fight for the right to “pee for free.”
But as the revolution unfolds, the story takes a darkly funny twist—showing that freedom, power, and survival are more complicated than they seem.
